I started the program back in June (Summer Quarter), taking and completing two classes:
Both of those classes were amazing experiences, giving me a good foundation for what's to come this quarter.
Speaking of this quarter, I've signed up for three courses including...
The required materials for the classes are as follows:
Intro to Avid Media Composer
Avid Media Composer (Yearly subscription)
Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC101) eBook
Media Composer Fundamentals II (MC110) eBook
The Art and Craft of Film Editing
In the Blink of an Eye (Mandatory)
How to Avoid the Cutting Room Floor: An editor's advice for on-camera actors (Optional)
Cutting It in Hollywood: Top Film Editors Share Their Journeys (Optional)
Cut to the Monkey: A Hollywood Editor’s Behind-the-Scenes Secrets to Making Hit Comedies (Optional)
Post Production for Film and Television
The Guide to Managing Postproduction for Film, TV, and Digital Distribution: Managing the Process (Optional)
I'm really looking forward to all three courses, but the Post Production for Film and Television is going to have some "on site" visits to post production houses, and virtual production stages, so I'm really looking forward to that.
Classes are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7pm to 10pm starting today, 9/25 and ending on 12/6. This schedule is perfect for me as it gives me the freedom during the day to work on my homework and to continue to build my filmmaking career by making connections, recording my podcast, writing my daily journals, creating tutorials, working on side projects, looking for new clients and possibly a new job.
If you want to track my transition to filmmaking, keep reading these journal entries, check out my Transition to Filmmaking Trello Board, my UCLA Trello Board, or my Certificate Spreadsheet where I track the courses for the certifcicate and what's been accomplished so far.
Until the next entry!
